Individual Counselling Services

Carl Jung said, “the privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are”.

You have already pursued studies or a career that feel meaningful to you and have established relationships that you enjoy … but you have a sense that things could be even better.

I work with clients who are often described by their friends and family as caring, thoughtful, and driven.

Most of my clients describe themselves as high-achievers who are open and adventurous, and are seeking meaningful work and relationships.

Even though you have done some personal work and are quite aware of the patterns in your life, you still find yourself plagued with unwanted thoughts and emotions that get in the way of showing up the way you want to in your life, career and relationships.

You feel stressed and anxious, and are tired of trying to navigate this alone. And although you have achieved some successes, you have an uneasy feeling that you aren’t quite on the right path.

That path has brought you here.

When you reach out and book an initial session with me, you will experience me as compassionate and caring. My clients experience me as a deep listener with the capacity to ask the right questions at the right time, and truly understand what you are going through.

As I get to know you and we build a relationship based on mutual trust and consideration, I am committed to working alongside you to clarify your goals for therapy and create a clear plan to achieve them.

I bring a wealth of experience including nearly 40 years as a therapist. I use a combination of body-based and cognitive approaches (including Jungian, Gestalt, EMDR, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness-based, and CBT) in our work together.

As you gain deeper insights into your own life and experience, you can expect to feel less stress and tension. As you begin to experience less self doubt and need for the approval of others, you will begin to feel more calm, clear, and confident.

The experiences in your life, such as issues at work and in your relationships, and old patterns from childhood, that once felt overwhelming and complicated, will begin to untangle. Your ability to weather life’s storms and stay grounded in the face of life’s challenges, will improve as your mind calms and you experience more space around your thoughts and feelings.

You can expect to be more self aware and able to make clear decisions. My goal in supporting you is to help you learn how to take action confidently, consistently, and purposefully to create the change you want and feel proud of the life you have created.

I welcome you to my practice. Whatever your specific struggles are, I’m committed to joining you on your personal journey. I look forward to supporting you to create the life you’ve been dreaming of, through my nearly 40 years of experience.

Scheduling is easy and you get to work from the comfort of your home as I work primarily online.

Course Description

Workplace culture is shaped by how we communicate.

Explore the practical tools of NVC with Anita Melin, a registered clinical counsellor with the BC Association of clinical counselors, who has been operating a private practice counselling business in the Nelson BC area for more than 20 years at Open Door Communications. She had the good fortune to meet and train with the developer of NVC, Marshall Rosenberg, when working in India supporting communication clinics for grassroots organizations.

Our Communication Clinic introduces practical tools from Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a proven framework that helps leaders and employees express concerns clearly, listen with intention, and navigate conflict without blame. NVC shifts conversations from reaction to understanding — building trust, psychological safety, and stronger collaboration across teams.

Discover how NVC can transform the way your organization works — one conversation at a time.

NVC provides practical tools to:

  • Express concerns clearly without blame

  • Listen in ways that reduce tension

  • Understand underlying needs behind behavior

  • Respond rather than react under pressure
